Pressurised Habitats

Engineered Safety Enclosures That Make Hazardous Activities Safe.

Pressurised habitats enable safe hot work in hazardous areas across the GCC, using ATEX and IECEx-certified positive-pressure systems for Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments.

About Pressurised Habitats

Pressurised Habitats within the Mechanical Integrity Solutions make hot work possible in environments where flammable gases and toxic substances may be present. We engineer, design, install and operate ATEX and IECEx certified positive-pressure habitats that allow structural and piping repairs, brownfield campaigns, platform extensions, decommissioning, plant modifications, emergency service welding, vessel maintenance, and hot work activities to be carried out safely on live process equipment, without taking the asset offline.

Our locally held equipment fleet covers ATEX and IECEx certified habitat systems for Zone 1 and Zone 2 deployment, with continuous monitoring of hazardous and toxic gases, isolation of ignition sources through pressurisation and containment, and ATEX-rated air conditioning packages delivering up to 20°C cooler than ambient temperatures for extended summer working windows. The in-country certified technician pool supports concurrent multi-site deployment, with mobilisation measured in hours rather than weeks.

Every habitat is erected and certified to internationally recognised ATEX and IECEx standards and integrated with the client's safety management system. The equipment fleet consists of fire-retardant, modular, flexible, and portable habitats, supporting offshore platforms, refineries, petrochemical facilities, and marine vessels, including gas carriers, where habitat deployment eliminates the need to make assets gas-free before hot work operations.

Standards and Governance

Pressurised habitat operations are safety-critical. Every deployment is governed by ATEX and IECEx certified equipment and procedures, engineered containment and pressurisation controls, and a structured technician competency framework ensuring safe execution in hazardous environments.

ATEX

Equipment and habitats certified to European Directive 2014/34/EU for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, supporting safe deployment across Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments.

IECEx

Internationally recognised certification scheme ensuring equipment, procedures and personnel meet global standards for explosive atmosphere operations.

Containment and Pressurisation

Positive-pressure hydrocarbon barriers, continuous gas monitoring, and automatic ignition-source isolation providing engineered controls for safe hot work execution.

Habitat Technician Competency Framework

Structured training, assessment and certification programmes ensuring every technician deployed is qualified for hazardous area habitat operations.

What Sets Pressurised Habitats Apart

Local fleet and in-country certified technicians

All habitat equipment and certified technicians are in-house and available across the GCC. Mobilisation is measured in hours, not weeks.

Climate-controlled habitats engineered for GCC summer conditions

Integrated ATEX-rated air conditioning packages reduce internal habitat temperatures by up to 20 °C, extending safe working windows where heat stress would otherwise stop work.

Integration with your current systems for emergencies

Habitats can integrate with the client's control systems to trigger process shutdown or intervention when the gas sensing module detects toxic or flammable gases, in line with site-specific safety requirements.

Competency Management Programme

A documented Competency Management Programme is in place, with biannual audits undertaken. No habitat is installed without certified supervision.

Connected Across Mechanical Integrity Solutions

Pressurised Habitats is one of four core service domains within Euro Mechanical's Services Division. Many client scopes combine habitat-enabled hot work with live plant intervention, bolting and joint integrity assurance, or pipeline modification services.
